Has there been a change? Do you now always have to mention categories, IDs ... have to be mentioned?

There seems to be another problem. I integrated in

the code:Then strange things happen, all of a sudden {articles id="1923"} is output with it.
If I delete {articles ordering="hits DESC" limit="3"} everything is normal again.

That is because your code is invalid/incomplete.
You have 2 {articles} opening tags. And just 1 closing tag.
Not sure what you are trying to do, but if you want to nest tags, see:

Also, if you just want to output 1 article, use the single {article} tag, not the {articles} tag.

It is not necessary, but recommended. As Articles Anywhere can then skip some checks and will probably need less queries to get to the end result.
