Conditional Content can you not show articles that show up elsewhere on the page?

Making a new template for my entertainment site and trying to figure out how I want to lay it out. What I was hoping to do is use a carousel for featured articles I choose pulled by article number in any category, and below it a slider to show newest articles with their intro pic and title within a certain category (this part obviously is not hard to do) and same thing with a different category below. (ie one slider for interviews and one for reviews for context) Below that I want to have category blog by date with everything else. What I don’t want to do is have the articles repeated that are featured at the top. Is there a way with (I’m assuming) conditional content to say with category blog show all articles by date (in all categories, basically latest news), but don’t display what’s featured above? I know I could just make those specific ones featured and not display featured in the category blog, but I use featured and unfeatured already to filter out things in another place when I need to hide them. I can’t just use skip x amount of articles (I’m assuming you could do that?) because the ones above are going to be in specific categories where the category blog is show all categories. I’m not sure if this is possible or how you would even go about doing it other than with featured and unfeatured, because it would somehow have to reference what was displayed in other modules on the page.
