Advanced Module Manager shows up Module at random places

Vincent Verhoeven's Avatar Vincent Verhoeven
We have issues with multiple modules in past period. They show up randomly above pages in their position but the module is restricted to only one menu-item. Our customer noticed it multiple times now. After some time the module dissapears again.

You probably have the Page Cache system plugin enabled. That caches the entire page including all modules.
You don't want that plugin enabled.

Read for more on caching here: www.joomlabeginner.com/blog/tutorials/81...able-cache-in-joomla

Hi Peter, unfortunately that's not enabled.

Assigning to menu items can give unwanted behavior on urls that do not have their own menu item. Joomla then tries to connect it to whatever menu item it thinks it should belong to.

Can you explain to what menu item you have set the condition?
Are there any other rules in the condition set?
On what url do you see the module where it shouldn't be?

And do you have some form of server cache or 3rd party caching going on?

Yes I know that, but the items it shows up are also the ones with menu-items.

Can you explain to what menu item you have set the condition?
> Hoofdmenu - Contact page

Are there any other rules in the condition set?
> Condition Set: For Module: Contact - Google Maps
> Opnemen Menu-items - Contact
> Ook aan onderliggende items: Nee

On what url do you see the module where it shouldn't be?
> I'd rather not share, but we got multiple screenshots from customer, past months. And this week also for another module on different sites.

And do you have some form of server cache or 3rd party caching going on?
> No, also the module isn't changed for long time now, so caching should not be an issue because the module shows up for a while on differrent pages and then disseapears again. There are also multiples sites on the server and in multiple sites this occurs.

Also we cannot reproduce the problem, we received multiple screenshots from customer where the problem shows up. We thought it could be when updating the extension, that it falls back on Joomla module setting, but after I changed the setting also for Joomla on all sites last week the problem happened again yesterday.

Sorry, I wouldn't know what would cause this. Seeing you can't reproduce it, it is pretty impossible to debug.
If you can reproduce this on an online environment to which I can get access, I am happy to look into this.
