When Modals opens an image gallery, the Close button (at the right-top corner) simply does not works.
It does nothing and the gallery proceeds to the next image.

What device, os, browser and screen resolution are you using?
Because for me, the close buttons on your site are working fine.

I'm using Ubuntu Linux 23.10, Firefox 120.0 (64 bit) Snap for Ubuntu, canonica-0002 - 1.0.
My monitor resolution is 1920x1080, extended screes across two monitors.
After your answer, I tried Chrome (for Ubuntu) and everything worked well.
So, it seems to be a matter of Firefox...
