Since I renewed our site and use Helix, the display of Modals does not display the thumbnails in a horizontal row anymore. The thumbnails are displayed in a vertical row instead. I am using exactly the same coding and the same settings.

Your Helix template probably loads styles and/or scripts that conflict with the Modals styles and scripts.
For more info about how elements get their styling, you can use the Element Inspector of your browser.
