Available updates not showing in Joomla Control Panel

Barry Bennett's Avatar Barry Bennett
Hi,
Can you help with this?
Joomla 3.9.22
Control Panel Shows "All Extensions up to date"
Extension Manager showing multiple updates available, (see attached)

Updating Extension Manager breaks site.

[Thu Nov 5 13:39:20 2020] [error] PHP Warning: session_start(): Failed to read session data: user (path: /tmp) in /var/www/vhosts/46/477472/webspace/httpdocs/airpark.ie/libraries/joomla/session/handler/native.php on line 260

Thanks

No idea what would cause that....

Updates not showing in the control panel would suggest the update sites are not enabled.
Or some error in Joomla update calls.

The session_start suggests something wrong with your database.

Ask your host what is going on.

What you can try:

Try deleting these folders:
/plugins/system/regularlabs
/libraries/regularlabs
(You will get other errors now).

Disable all Regular Labs system plugins.
Then update all Regular Labs extensions.
And re-enable any still disabled system plugins.

Did all the above

Error Log shows

[Sat Nov 7 10:16:58 2020] [error] PHP Warning: Declaration of PlgSystemModals::loadStylesAndScripts($buffer) should be compatible with RegularLabs\Library\Plugin::loadStylesAndScripts(&$buffer) in /var/www/vhosts/46/477472/webspace/httpdocs/airpark.ie/plugins/system/modals/modals.php on line 53

Seems like you do not have the latest version of Modals installed.
Make sure you update all extensions.

It can be that for some reason (folder/file permission issues on your server), files are not being overwritten during installation/update.
In that case: either ask your host to fix this. Or delete the extension folders containing those files and re-install - like you did with the Regular Labs library folders.

PS: A PHP Warning should not render the page inaccessible. See if you can switch off php error reporting to get back into the site.

This all seems to me like issues on your server. And not directly related to the Regular Labs extensions.
