Autoload does not work on front end

I have got this working to autoload settings on a backend article. But it does not work on the front end.

I have set outload to yes and to override settings but the settings don't change unless I use the editor button manually.

Any suggestions here?

Can you give me (super) admin and (s)ftp access so I can take a look?
And tell me on what url I can see/reproduce the issue.
You can use the 'Hidden text' button in the forum editor to hide the confidential information.

It's a bare joomla install:

As you will see in the backend, this correctly loads some text ("Template...") in the editor and changes access to Registered.

On front end, nothing happens here when adding an article:

I have no idea. I have the exact same settings and such on my local test site, and it is working just fine.

Can you also give me (s)ftp access so I can take a deeper look?

Ok, found the problem.
It is fixed on your setup and in latest development release on:

Thanks Peter,

This worked but as soon as I add a publishing assignment - in this case I added that it should appear only for the Category 'Test' - it no longer appeared when adding articles belonging to either of Test or Uncategorized. In fact, the Editor button for content templater disappeared as well when I added the category publishing assignment.

There are two menu items for the two categories.

Thanks Peter. Now working.

New issue is that none of the options in "Configure Edit Screen" seem to change anything on the frontend. For example, publishing options set to "no" but still show.

Correct.
If you're inserting the Content Template from the frontend, keep in mind that frontend edit forms may have less fields available than the administrator edit forms. Content Templater can only set the values of fields available in the edit form

But the Images and Publishing options are both enabled in the global articles options. If I then set images and publishing to 'no' in template, shouldn't it then hide them for that template?

What do you mean with "then hide them for that template"?

All Content Templater does is (pre)fill the fields in the edit form.
It doesn't control what fields are displayed in the edit form.
