Regular Labs Updates freeze the website Admin.

Milian's Avatar Milian
Hi Peter,

I want to let you know that updates from within Joomla are freeze the
website.

This happens for more than a week from al my websites on different
providers.

Probably a capacity issue?

I cannot update your extentions.

Regards,
Milian

Ah, I see. But I am using the free versions of your different extentions.
Had no problems for years...
So I must dowmload the free versions for updates from now on?

No, I was referring to the steps mentioned there:
1. You have a firewall extension getting in the way
If you have an extension like RS Firewall or AdminTools installed, disable these (temporarily) to see if that is the cause of the issue.
Your host is blocking the connection.
2. It can be that your host is blocking the regularlabs.com domain name or IP address. Or it might be blocking remote url calls altogether. Ask your host if they can see why the page is failing.
The regularlabs.com server is blocking the connection.
3. It can be that there is some block at the host Regular Labs uses. If the above things don't reveal anything, ask your host to perform a traceroute from your server to the download.regularlabs.com domain/IP. And then pass that along to the Regular Labs support via the forum.

Firstly I recommend you do a rebuild of the update sites in Joomla though.

Hi Peter,

It seems the problem is in the IPv6 connectivity to regularlabs.com
Because an AAAA-record for regularlabs.com exists, that points to 2a02:c206:2139:351::1
My hosts server is configured to prioritize ipv6 traffic, so when it tries to connect to regularlabs.com over ipv6, it times out.

Also see this:
ready.chair6.net/?url=regularlabs.com

The solution (according to my host) should be, to either allow ipv6 traffic to the website, or remove the AAAA-record from your DNS.

The hosts ipv6 address is: 2a01:7c8:bb03:47:1146:d948:de3e:356a (maybe it's just blocked on your hosts side)

Can you check now?

Yes Peter!
All my websites from this IPv6 provider are updated.
Thanks for your fast reaction.

I see that you do not support PHP 8.0.x
for your regularlabs modules.
No prob. but that fast geared out?

Milian

but that fast geared out?
I don't know what you mean by that.

that fast faced out (uitgefaceerd) 🙂

PHP 8.0 has some weird issues with passing around php objects (where it forgets what object it should reference).
Also PHP 8.0 is already end-of-life. So no more support for it.
