J3 to J4 - Advanced Module Manager 9.3.0 - Bug

Simon Hodgkiss's Avatar Simon Hodgkiss
Found a bug with Advanced Module Manager - 9.3.0

When upgrading from J3 to J4 stay on Advanced Module Manager - 9.2.0 it seems that during the update the Advanced Module Manager settings get lost.

Ignore all the Joomla compatibility issue warnings and go ahead with the update.

Once you have moved to J4 you can then install Advanced Module Manager - 9.3.0 I have testing this multiple times and had the same results.

You can not upgrade from J3 to J4 when using Advanced Module Manager - 9.3.0.

I will have to look into this ?
Do you get any errors when trying to install 9.3.0 on the J4 side?

Basically 9.2.0 doesn't load the module position information from J3 when you upgraded to J4.

But if you install 9.3.0 on J4 it fixes it.

However, if you have already updated to 9.3.0 on J3 even if you try to install / reinstall 9.3.0 this doesn't fix this issue.

I'll see if I can reproduce the issues and figure out what is causing this...

I think I have this fixed now in the latest dev version of Advanced Module Manager.
Can you test this to see if the different issues you had are now fixed when using v9.4.0-dev ?

Hello,

Unfortunately, v9.4.0-dev still has the same issue as before it doesn't remember which modules are published and which are not so it just turns all modules on every page.

Thanks

I cannot reproduce this issue on my setups.
So I guess something else is happening here. Probably some error or timeout during the installation, causing things to go haywire.

Can you give me (super) admin and (s)ftp access so I can take a look?
And tell me what steps I can take to reproduce the issue (multiple times).

The current state of the website is Advanced Module Manager - 9.2.0 is installed.

To replicate my errors you are best of viewing the homepage first.

- Upgrade from 9.2.0 to 9.4 - DEV

- Use the Joomla Auto Update J3 to J4

- Install the com_yendifvideoshare_2.0.1_PRO.zip extension as this is required after J3 to J4.

- Then load the homepage and you will see how badly the Advanced Module Manager - 9.4 - Dev looks because the settings gone missing.

Any problems please let me know

I cannot access your website as it gives a "Your connection isn't private" error. Issue with the SSL certificate.
This is also true for the cPanel.

I cannot connect through FTP. It refuses connection both through the default port and port 2087.

You can just skip the SSL warning as it's a dev server.

I am still unable to connect through FTP. I made a new FTP user in the cpanel, but doesn't seem to let me connect.
Using an online file browser is not really an option. As that takes ages to get things done.

I can't do much testing for you like this...

I have tested this a number of times on my own test sites, and all goes well:
- Update Joomla 3 to latest
- Update Advanced Module Manager to latest v9.4.0-dev
- Upgrade to Joomla 4
- Re-install Advanced Module Manager v9.4.0-dev
