Breadcrumb and links

GARCIA Ange's Avatar GARCIA Ange
Hi,

I've setup a AA page with the following code :
<p>{articles category="Actualités" include-child-categories="false" ordering="publish_up DESC" pagination="true" per-page="10"}</p>
<h4>[link][title][/link]</h4>
<p style="text-align: right; margin-bottom:5px;">[readmore text="Lire la suite... &gt;" class="synlnk"]</p>
<hr>
<p>{/articles}</p>
the result is :

When I click on a "readmore"(Lire la suite... >) the breadcrumb is showing the following :

How can I get rid off the added (Blogs/Actualités) ?

When I am using the Joomla Blog of a category feature it does not add those two : Blogs/Actualités ...

What am I doing wrong ?
Thanks for your help and advises,
Stéphane

Articles Anywhere asks Joomla to generate the article URL for it based on the article and category ID.
The breadcrumbs are generated based on whatever URL that is.

Both are pretty much down to Joomla core and not Articles Anywhere.

Can you see if there is a difference between the article URLs that you get through the Articles Anywhere code and via the Blog page?
And preferably also check the difference when SEF URLs are switched off...

Hi Peter,

Here what I've got :

Confidential information:
(hidden)

And on Both (SEF On or OFF), the breadcrumb is different... as described before

Thanks for your help and advises,

The non-SEF urls ard exactly the same. So how could the result be different?

Hi Peter,

That's also my interrogation...
Maybe the use of NicePage extension does modify the way things are written ?

Have you any Idea about it ?

Anyway the add of "Blog ▶ Actualités" in the breadcrumb is not good as it points to Joomla "auto Blog constructions" that I do not want...

If you want I can provide an SU access to the site (site on production with a "on construction" popup...)
(We had no other choice as the previous developer (external supplier) closed the old server with our original site on it...)

My chance is that I had a static copy (HTTrack) of the original site.

So I build the new version of the site (cleaning old posts, adding new one, etc...)

Thanks in advance for your help and advises,
Stéphane

PS : This time I took the time to write a review... on Joomla! extensions

I just checked all the urls you gave, and the breadcrumbs look fine on all of them...

Hi Peter,

That is normal as it is the Joomla! Blog of a category that is active... all links are then resulting in the same page...

But once you use the AA article instead of the Joomla Blog, the breadcrumb changes

From that : (specific template : SynHome_Theme_V_1_26_Ressources)

to that : (default template V1_26)

The breadcrumb display changes as described in my first post...

You can test by yourself, if you want to.
Again, Many thanks for your help and advises,

Well, yes, if you disable the blog menu item, then Joomla will use a different menu item as the active one.

As you see, Articles Anywhere is generating the correct (non-SEF) URLs. How those are converted to SEF URLs and what menu item is set as active, is fully down to Joomla. It is outside the control of Articles Anywhere.

If you want to force a certain menu item as the active one, you will need to create custom URLs.
You can do that using the available Data Tags (like [id] and [category:id]) inside the href of the custom link, and add a specific &Itemid=...

Hi Peter,

Sorry for the late answer (lot of work rebuilding the site...)

I agree with you.

I'll try your solution once I'll have a little spare time (most important first, entering all articles into the new site) and let you know about the result

Many thanks for your help
Stéphane
