Error: Data too long

Christoph Weihrauch's Avatar Christoph Weihrauch
Hi, i get the following error when i try to install on a Joomla 4 Website:
Data too long for column 'color' at row 1.
It happens when i install through the joomla installer and also when i use the extension manager.
It happens on all 10.x versions and also on the latest 9.x. I didn't try further if there is an old version working.
Can you please help me to solve this problem?
Best, Chris

Hello Peter,

I have upgraded to 10.0.9 and am now experiencing this issue. I removed the color set for a module and when I clicked Save & Close, the following error was returned. I tried it on various modules with the same results.
Save failed with the following error: Data too long for column 'color' at row 1
My environment is: Joomla 5.0.0 with PHP 8.1.25 and all RL extensions are up to date.

Cheers,

Can you give me (super) admin and (s)ftp access so I can take a look?
And tell me with what module I can see/reproduce the issue.

The module is Client Navigation, though it seems to be affecting various types.

I just opened the module and saved it. And all is fine. No errors... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hello Peter,

Thanks for testing.

I tried again and it seems to be resolved. I am not sure why it would affect my super admin user and then the guest admin I created, but then suddenly stop. Do you think something may have been cached in Firefox or the browser in general?

Cheers,

Not sure.
Let me know if you run into it again.

If so, try the new dev version (just updated) to see if that fixes it.
