Error 500 in backend

George Angelopoulos's Avatar George Angelopoulos
Hello Peter,
I've been using advanced module manager for all my Joomla 3 websites for maybe more than a decade.
This is the first time I tried to use it on a Joomla 4 website.
After the installation, I get an error 500 when I try to access the modules in the backend.
Also all of the modules appear on all of the pages after that.

I searched your forum for solutions and followed the steps below:
I tried completely removing all regular labs extensions and re-installing them.
I tried to erase /libraries/regularlabs & /plugins/system/regularlabs and re-installing them.
I tried updating Joomla and most components (I have 2 that cannot get updated at this time).
I checked the antivirus in my server to make sure that it doesn't automatically delete any of the installed files.

Unfortunately, I couldn't solve the issue. Would you mind taking a look?

Sorry for that... I left it on the last step and haven't hit save.
Please try again 🙂

Should be fixed now in latest release 9.5.1

It worked 🙂
Thank you Peter.
Do I have to recreate all the module assignments after installing the advanced module manager?
Because still, all the modules appear on all the pages.

I would recommend you try the upgrade from J3 to J4 again.

However, there are some changes between J3 and J4 that could cause some conditions to get 'lost'.
The main one is that J4 no longer has an 'Include No Itemid' option under the menu item condition rule. This is because Joomla 4 will always default to the home menu item if no Itemid is given in the url.

This website was built in Joomla 4 from scratch.
I had configured the modules correctly but there was a need for advanced module manager to create some more specific arrangements.
When I installed it, the positions were messed up.
I could do them all from the beginning with advanced module manager but I would rather skip that if there is an easier way and focus on the development.

Advanced Module Manager should take over any existing module assignments and convert them to condition sets.
Can you check if the condition set are created? And if so, are they not being attached to the modules? Or is stuff missing?

I just saw that although the main module page is correct now, when I get into any module I get an error 500.
Sorry for not noticing that earlier.

Many conditions were created but all of the rules are empty...

Error during the installation:

Unexpected token '<', "
"... is not valid JSON

It seems to have been installed and the error 500 is gone.
The module positions were not generated though.
Should I uninstall everything and try installing it to see what it does?

You can try...

Otherwise, can you give me (super) admin, (s)ftp and database (PhpMyAdmin) access so I can take a look?
You can use the 'Confidential information' button in the forum editor to hide sensitive information.

I uninstalled and re-installed but the conditions were not transferred.

Peter don't worry about it.
I started arranging them manually to make sure I have them ready on time!
Thank you for your precious help so far 🙂
