CDN not working for some images

Pedro Naranjo's Avatar Pedro Naranjo
Website: tv7n.com
CDN setup: tv7n-v3.b-cdn.net pulls from www.tv7n.com/site/main/v3

The CDN is configured for tv7n-v3.b-cdn.net but it does not work for images such as ....
www.tv7n.com/site/main/v3/media/k2/items...a_M.jpg?t=1609384579
... which are present in the HTML output of the page. It does work for images without the "?t=..."

I have already checked that the plugin is the last, but before SEF and cache and that the CDN is working correctly.

Please let me know what the issue could be.

We had to disable the plugin because with it enabled we saw a great increase in processing (see time for the root document)...

With it enabled
gtmetrix.com/reports/tv7n.com/BBKNyyQR/
With it disabled
gtmetrix.com/reports/tv7n.com/hDBz97vA/

It is now 1.8s without the plugin...

The image urls have queries in them (t=1609384579). These make them 'dynamic' and not suitable for being served via a CDN.

Whether the performance of your site is affected positively by the CDN or not, is not down to CDN for Joomla!, but down to whatever CDN provider you use.

is there a way to force the CDN for those items? The query in them is just for version control... much like your own solution works...

I understand how CDN works, believe me. I expect the plugin to convert all the images to the CDN path that I provide.

Please let me know how this is possible.

Note: Keep in mind that the urls are still coming from my server (tv7n.com).

I can turn the plug in on, if you like for your testing now.... let me now.

Can you give me (super) admin and (s)ftp access so I can take a look?
And tell me on what url I can see/reproduce the issue.

I'm sorry about that... it should be fixed now... please let me know if you need anything else.

So that seems to fix it for some images, but mess it up for the others...

I have added the site root to be /site/main/v3/ which fixes the adding of the incorrect path to the domain but it does not change the following...

In page style...
background:url(' www.tv7n.com/site/main/v3//images/banners/Header_L2M.jpg ')
Note: I know that "//images" is wrong but that seems to be a bug with the current component.

background:url(' www.tv7n.com/site/main/v3/images/banners/Header_FR.jpg ')
Note: Even if I fully put the path, in the component, forcing it to be "correct", without the "//", it still does not work for those files..

We are very close, I have now activated your dev mode plugin in prod... Let me know when this other issue can be fixed.
Peter van Westen's Avatar Peter van Westen ADMIN
The issues you are facing are because of the site running on a subfolder.
These should not happen when the site runs on its own domain.

I do not have a quick and easy fix for that at the moment.

Consider setting up your development site on a subdomain instead.

Thank you for the quick replay... our productions sites are always using the scheme of /site/main/<version>/... If you are using patterns to catch the URLs are convert them... would not this be simply adjusting your pattern to catch those urls set in CSS as well?

When we got the plug there, I did not see a requirement to have the site setup in a subdomain fashion.
Peter van Westen's Avatar Peter van Westen ADMIN
It's not a requirement. It is a bug in CDN for Joomla! that I should fix. But it isn't an easy fix. So I can't offer you a direct solution now.
